Mission

The mission of the Justice Studies Task Force (JSTF) is to forge a strong connection between the past, present, and future of the Justice Studies field by creating and promoting opportunities for current students, faculty, alumni, and criminal justice professionals to engage with one another, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects.

We achieve our mission by:

  1. Providing stewardship for the Justice Studies Department: We foster camaraderie and unity among the SJSU alumni, Justice Studies faculty and staff, students, and the broader criminal justice community, ensuring a vibrant and supportive network.

  2. Hosting the annual Confidence Challenge: This exciting event encourages friendly competition and teamwork among students and faculty, while showcasing the physical fitness aspects of the criminal justice profession.

  3. Creating educational opportunities for current SJSU students: We organize events such as the "Beyond the Books" seminars, where students can gain insights into various aspects of the criminal justice field from professionals, academics, and alumni.

  4. Facilitating the Justice Studies Fall and Spring Convocations: These events celebrate the achievements and milestones of our students and provide a platform for networking and community-building.

  5. Supporting Justice Studies Department activities and events: We actively participate in and promote events such as the annual JS Showcase Dinner, which highlights student accomplishments and raises awareness of our department's impact on the field of criminal justice.

    Vision

The JSTF envisions a future where our department is recognized for its strong legacy and continued impact in the field of criminal justice. By fostering a sense of unity, appreciation, and understanding of our rich history, we strive to inspire current and future generations of students, faculty, and alumni to excel and innovate in their careers.
