Justice Studies Showcase Dinner
Our department is one of the oldest criminal justice departments in the country, having been formed in the 1930s. As one of the more prominent programs in the country, our alumni are among the most distinguished professionals in policing, corrections, and law and courts.
Beyond the classroom, the department sponsors a variety of activities to engage students and the community.
The Record Clearance Project, enabling students to do legal casework that helps reformed clients expunge their criminal convictions
CSI Summer Camp, hosting adolescents in an adventure of discovery of actual methods used by forensic scientists when they solve crimes
Research opportunities for students in cutting edge areas of our justice system
Internship opportunities in policing, investigations, law, immigration, and civil rights
Our internationally renowned research journal Themis (written and edited exclusively by our students)
To support these endeavors, we are helping the department fund a $50,000 Student Success endowment. The Justice Studies Showcase is our annual fundraiser that celebrates the successes of our students, alumni and department programs and helps our alumni reconnect with the department.
The Showcase event provides the opportunity for the department to continue to provide the best educational opportunities to our future judges, police officers, parole and probation officers, counselors, and intervention specialists who will be the front line in our communities, protecting us from crime, and promoting more wholesome living.
